COSPAR (Committee on Space Research) was created by ICSU (International Council of Scientific Unions) in October 1958 to continue the research programs with rockets and satellites successfully undertaken during the International Geophysical Year of 1957-1958. Since 2005, the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF) has been a member of COSPAR.
COSPAR‘s objectives are the promotion of space research to foster the exchange of results, information and opinions and to provide an open forum for the scientific community to discuss space research problems and opportunities. These objectives are achieved with the organization of Scientific Assemblies, publications and other support activities.
As evidence of the close collaboration between IAPS and COSPAR, the former Director Pietro Ubertini was nominated COSPAR’s Italian Representative.
INAF also is in charge of editing and publishing the Italian Reports to the General Scientific Assemblies of COSPAR that take place every two years. Below, you can download the latest editions:

Il COSPAR (Committee on Space Research) fu costituito dall’ICSU (International Council of Scientific Unions) nell’ottobre 1958 per continuare i programmi di ricerca con razzi e satelliti intrapresi con successo durante l’Anno Geofisico Internazionale del 1957-1958. Dal 2005 l’Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF) è membro di COSPAR.
Gli obiettivi del COSPAR sono la promozione della ricerca spaziale per favorire lo scambio di risultati, informazioni e opinioni e per fornire un forum aperto alla comunità scientifica in cui discutere problemi e opportunità della ricerca spaziale. Questi obiettivi sono raggiunti con l’organizzazione di Assemblee Scientifiche, pubblicazioni e altre attività di supporto.
A testimonianza della stretta collaborazione tra IAPS e COSPAR, l’ex Direttore Pietro Ubertini è stato nominato Rappresentante Italiano del COSPAR.
L’INAF cura inoltre la redazione e pubblicazione dei Report Italiani alle Scientific Assembly del COSPAR, che si tengono ogni due anni. Dai link qui sotto è possibile scarciare gli ultimi:
